Puno Travel - by Land 

You can take a bus from Lima to Arequipa-Juliaca-Puno (18 hours), a trip of about 830 miles (1335 km.) This is not recommended unless you never ever have gotten motion sickness.



Leaving from the city of Cusco (7 pm) the trip is about about 240 miles, or 389 km. Some highly recommend this trip.

From Arequipa (5 pm) the road trip is about 220 miles or 324 km.

If you are going from Juliaca, the trip covers about 27 miles, 44 km, and takes around 40 minutes.

Puno Travel - by Air

From Lima to Juliaca, the airport nearest Puno is 2 hrs 40 min. by air. From Juliaca to Puno takes about 40 minutes by taxi or a little longer by bus.

Puno Travel - by Rail

Recommended by many, this train ride covers slightly less than 240 miles, 384 km., from Cusco to Puno and takes about 10 hours. The train normally runs Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Prices by rail vary from basic to tours. The costs run from 251-400 soles, or around $88 to $140 USD.
Remember the Altitude!

You are at about 12,500 feet (3810 meters).

According to the highland people, you should drink plenty of coca tea and rest.,

Maximum Temperature: 15.8 C (60 degrees F)

Minimum Temperature: 1.4 C (35 degrees F)
