Huge Cocaine Catch in Huanchaco, Peru

Over three tons of cocaine has been found in a warehouse near the Trujillo airport in Huanchaco, Peru, about 8 minutes from where we live.

The newspaper El Comercio reports that the cocaine was found enclosed in cinder blocks that look like big black unevenly-formed rocks that had to be broken open with sledge hammers.

Eight people were arrested, including 2 Mexicans and six Peruvians.

The cocaine appeared to be destined for Belgium and Spain, where 2.2 pounds (1 kilo) sells for about 45 thousand dollars.

Apparently, the haul belonged to one of the Mexican drug cartels.

At this point only 30% of the rocks have been busted open and authorities estimate there could be six tons of cocaine in all.
