Perú. ¡Disfrútelo!

The best in life, whether food, sights, sounds, or colors, is often found through interaction with people of a different culture. This involves communication, language learned using various language learning strategies.

Why learn a foreign language in the fist place? I think you know the answer to that - speaking another language adds a new perspective to your travels and experiences.

Language Learning Strategies

Children learn a language far easier than adults but that's no reason (or excuse) for not learning a second language.

No matter what age you are or what method is used, being completely immersed in a language is the best way to learn any language.

This, naturally, means living and breathing - 24 hours a day - the language and its culture, which would normally involve living in the country while you are learning that language.

If, however, you can't immerse (live) yourself in another culture and language, you can still become quite conversational in the foreign language of your choice.

Learning Languages Online

The most common teaching methods - where a teacher teaches a class and a group of students follows - usually do not achieve the best results. What you want is to start thinking in another language, and a traditional classroom method just isn't the best way.

Language learning strategies that include a mixture of techniques - games, conversation, learning about the culture, and others - are the most pleasant and attractive way to start thinking in another language.

There are many options available when you are considering learning another language, whether you can fully immerse yourself or not.

For example, learning languages online or learning that incorporates audio, visual, and written materials is a good way to learn while enjoying and being entertained at the same time.

Learning languages online offers many good options.

Conversation classes and other methods

Adult classes that involve aspects of immersion learning are often very different from those of children; the language is best learned, however, in the same way - through games, songs and conversation.

The topics, of course, are tailored to each group. In every case, though, playing is a natural way of learning that serves all ages and adults should become actively involved in "playing" as a part of learning.

Conversing with other students, relating experiencess of everyday life, and inventing stories are some of the possibilities.

The best instruction methods, along with our own attitude, restult in the best outcome - to have fun and learn.

Learn a Foreign Language - Add These Methods

In adulthood, reading newspapers or books and watching TV and movies without subtitles are other ways to immerse in the language that are also very useful.

Weather Conditions in Cusco and Machu Picchu Area - Mar 26 2017

Weather conditions in Cusco, Machu Picchu, and Peru's southern areas?

March 26, 2017
We live far to the north where there is lots of flooding. In the south of Peru sources indicate that tourism continues normally.

According to PROMPERU (the official gov’t site), tourism destinations in the south including Cusco, Arequipa, Puno and Madre de Dios, have not been affected,.

“The tourist activity in these regions are developing as usual with hotels, tourist services, airports and access to tourist attractions,” according to the statement.

We’re sorry that’s all the info we have, but it sounds pretty good for you to go.

Enjoy and take plenty of photos!

SEVERE WEATHER ALERT PERU - 2017 Mar 16

2017, 16 March SEVERE WEATHER ALERT ALL OF PERU - the whole country is under alert for severe flooding. The most affected at this point is the coast. Most bus routes have been affected. Transportation to many areas of the coast of Peru is limited or nonexistent.

Probably the must urgent condition is water. The supply of water could be cut off anywhere along the coast at any time due to breakages in the pipes.

Internet connections have been experiencing some outages in generalized areas.

LOCAL - Here in Huanchaco and surrounding areas of La Libertad, all schools are closed. There was no bus service last night from Huanchaco to Trujillo. Huanchaco has not had severe rains but there is damage with old roofs collapsing. Our favorite restaurant 3 blocks from us was closed yesterday due to portions of the roof collapsing. Since it "never" rains here, nobody has ever maintained their roofs, so just a little rain causes a lot of damage.
