El Nuro Peru Surfing

The town of El Nuro is south of Los Organos about 15 minutes.

To get there, catch a pickup (camioneta) from Los Organos. They leave from the main highway where you'll see other vans and taxis.

Tell the driver to take you to where the waves (olas) are in El Nuro and arrange for him to pick you up.

We were charged 20 soles (7 dollars) each way (family of 6) and the driver came back and picked us up right on time.

I have heard that there is a good spot near the pier. However, we went to the point break. Before the paved road drops to the pier, take the dirt road to the left. That leaves you just the other side of a nice point break.

There is at least one hotel there but little else. There was 2 or 3 people at the beach and no one surfing except us.

It really was a lot better than it looks in these few photos but a little hard to figure the takeoff spot (backs off a little. Sets were overhead.

There are no hazardous rocks in the takeoff zone outside or on the wave itself.

It looks like it can get really good and is a good option if you don't want to deal with crowded conditions in Organos (La Vuelta) or Mancora.
