Cumbemayo Peru - September 2011 Peru Photo Contest

Spanish: Imagen tomada en Cumbemayo al norte de Cajamarca , tomada en el mes de Setiembre del 2011 Cumbemayo es una formación rocosa que apareció en el período terciario. Durante la excursion se realiza una caminata de 4.5 Km a traves d elas rocas, el viento y la erosión les ha dado una forma especial que imita animales o personas. Durante la excursion se descubre un canal hecho por los antiuguos Caxamarcas hace mil años donde se observan petroglifos y los conocimientos de física e hidráulica que tenían. LA foto fue tomada a las 11 am con una Canon XS English: This photo was taken at Cumbemayo north of Cajamarca in September, 2011. Cumbemayo is a rocky formation that appeared in the Tertiary Period (marks the beginning of the Cenozoic Era). The excursion included a hike of 4-1/2 km (about 2.8 miles). Wind and erosion has given these rocks unique shapes that resemble animals or people. During the excursion, a canal was discovered. Made by the ancient Caxamarca people about 2,000 years ago, petroglyphs were observed as well evidence of the knowlege this people had of physics and hydraulics. The photo was taken at 11:00 a.m. with a Canon XS This special photo is in the September Inside-Peru Photo Contest. It is also entered in the 2011 Photo of the Year - Inside-Peru Photo Contest. Even if the contest for a certain month is closed, your vote will count towards the Photo of the Year, announced in January of the following year.
