Inside-Peru Newsletter, Issue #011 - Peru - Photo Opportunities Galore!
June 17, 2011

Hello

Peru - Picture-Perufect

Here is the latest update on what's happening at Inside-Peru.

It's been a little over a month since the last newsletter. For travelers, the strike situation in the Puno area has been a concern.

The international border crossing from Peru into Bolivia has been closed and reopened several times. The situation is still uncertain there, so best to avoid the Puno/Lake Titicaca area.

Also, Bolivia transport officials have called for an indefinite shut-down, so if you are going into Bolivia, you will probably want to change those plans now, also!

First on our list, here are the great photos that have come in mid month for our Peru Photo Contest - June 2011.

I took this picture of a boatyard on a tributary of the Amazon River in Iquitos as I stood on a mountain of sawdust, waiting to load my luggage onto another boat on June 17, 2011.

Many of these boats were skeletons, once used but now abandoned, docked at this harbor for many years.
