Inside-Peru Newsletter, Issue #013 - Traveling to Peru in January or February
January 29, 2011

Hello

Although January/February is the rainy season for most of Peru, this time of year is popular with travelers here. Even damp Machu Picchu and the mountain and lowland rainforests get a lot of travelers/tourists during these months.

Why?

To escape the cold, wet, or snowy and icy conditions in the Northern Hemisphere, as you may well know!

What better than an intriguing, exciting, exotic, and WARM vacation rolled into one, with Peru in its summer season?

You don't have to be concerned much with the rain. Yes, there exists the possibilities of washouts and road closures (check our news alerts)...but that might happen where you live or anywhere else anyway. The chances of heavy rain ruining your trip are pretty small.

The main thing is to be prepared with rain gear of some sort. A light waterproof poncho and/or umbrella at least should be part of your packed equipment.

Or you can pick these things up in any of the larger towns if it becomes necessary.

Light rain gear is all that's usually needed for travel in Peru at this time of the year unless you are going to areas specifically know for normal very heavy rainfall.

Of course, Western Peru from the Pacific beaches to the Andes foothills just doesn't get much rain except in the very worst El Niño years. And if you love water sports like surfing, kite surfing, and diving, this is the best time of year for these adventures.

Check the weather conditions for your destination here.

Now, here are the latest additions to Inside-Peru.com, your choice in Peru Travel.
