2014 April 3rd - Peru Tsunami and Volcano
by David and Lin Schneider
(Huanchaco Beach, Peru)
The earthquake on April 1st (day before yesterday) in Northern Chile resulted in a warning along the Peruvian coast.
However, there were no reports of any serious effects; here in Huanchaco we didn't see any at all.
Today the news tells us of a volcano in Southwestern Peru that has cause authorities to evacuate some 60 people from a small village in the vicinity.
The volcano has been showing signs of life for the past few weeks and now an explosion looks possible.
However, this is in the Moquegua region and far from any tourist travel routes, so no need to worry about any effects on your travel.
