News sources reported the main international highway between Peru and Bolivia remained closed.

The atmosphere was described as calm but tense today.

The Aymara population continues to strike due to several complaints. Today, Saturday the 11th, the strike is focusing once again on a proposed hydroelectric dam which would require vacating villages and fields over an extensive area.

Another major complaint is a the contamination of natural waterways by mining in several areas.
